"Long Post. ALL WORDS. If not a reader, don't read."

Now I went for work at like 5pm today, after watching 'Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs' with Porter, Alexa and Andrew. The movie was much better than I expected! NEIL PATRICK HARRIS WAS IN IT, how bad could it have been right?

So I was like checking what was lacking in the fridge next to the fryer and I realised we were out of chips. So I went back to carry some bags of chips to the front. Suddenly Alan/Allen stoped me and said in Chinese, "Do you know why I have never scolded you in the kitchen yet? You and (some other guy)."

I was abit shocked and I said no. And he went like, "I don't care about how well you do things. You could be the stupidest fool in the kitchen and make many mistakes but if you have the attitude to learn and improve, then I won't scold you. And that is what you've shown when you work. You don't need anyone to tell you when to restock the items neither do you ask for anyone's help when you can handle it own your own. That's why I have not scolded you at all."

I was like kinda dumbfounded. So I was like ohhhh. Thanks!

Then he was like, "This kinda thing, don't need to say thanks one!"

So I walked off with the bags of chips in my hands, feeling super happy. Why? Because he liked my attitude at work. I mean, after the Campcraft disappointment last year-where I was kicked out because my attitude apparently sucked-I really wanted to change.

Which was one of the reasons why I wanted to work at Fish & Co anyway. And why the kitchen? Well I was bored as heck at home, with a month more of the hols to go. So although it was never my idea to want to work during the semester break, I applied at Fish & Co. Then I sorta got desperate for the job. And eventually, I got it.

Then came working in the kitchen. Seriously, I never expected myself to work in the kitchen. And the first 4 days of the OJE were crap. I picked things up at a decent rate I think but it was super challenging.

But I pushed myself to persevere because I wanted to prove that not only can fat dudes work in the kitchen, it was to prove to myself, I could do something different. People look at me and never expect me as one who would work in the kitchen. I tell you it's the hardest $5.50 an hour I've ever earnt. Working together with people with such different backgrounds and capabilities.

I know people who read this will be like what is this fool thinking. It's just a holiday job. Why blog such a long post about it? And I'll tell you why. You gotta look at everything as a learning process. Because if you have a job and you see it as just a job and means of making extra money, you gain nothing from it. Money is spent just like that. Life lessons aren't.

So I worked the hardest I've had. I put in elbow grease and I did my best not to complain. After hearing how much hardship foreign workers take to come here and WORK IN THE KITCHEN, I decided to push.

And I have.

I am comfortable with frying de fish. Not only that but I fry de fish HAPPILY.
